How To Complete A Good Dissertation Proposal Domestic Violence
Before you start your dissertation proposal, you need to make sure that you have all the details that you need in regard to the way that your work needs to be presented, (such as word count, headings and date that it needs to be submitted). Also be clear that this paper is a proposal for discussion with the academic panel before you actually start.
At this point it is also a good idea to remind yourself that domestic violence is a very emotive area and that any data that you may come across may not be complete data as it is based on reported incidents of domestic violence and does not include incidents that have not been reported.
Read other dissertation proposals. This can be a very good use of your time.
- Start by reading the instructions that your professor has given you. Included in the instructions will be reference to the marking framework that the academic panel will be using. Be sure understand what you need to include in your proposal, if you are not sure then talk with your professor.
- Your professor may direct you to some good examples of the work that you need to produce. Read through the examples. You may need additional examples in that case have a look online for websites that specialize in supporting students. Preferably look at a range of work namely examples of average, poor and exceptional work.
What to look for in the examples.
- Make sure that as you read through the examples that you can easily understand what the author/student is suggesting for their content; what they are actually going to investigate and how they are going to do it. Have they supported their work by using empirical evidence?
- Put yourself in the position of the academic panel, so you think that the suggestions for research and the supporting evidence is practical to complete and if so what the results/conclusions would determine. Has the author given consideration to any future studies or applications of the evidence that they will be providing.
Choosing your topic, theme and hypothesis.
- Whatever topic or theme you choose for your topic make sure that you are comfortable with dealing with the content. Domestic Violence can be a very emotive subject to deal with. This does not mean that you should distance yourself from the content of your work but make sure that you write about it in a scientific and academic manner.
- Research, research and research. Make sure that you base your work on sound academic work and cite it accurately. You could use your work to relate to how domestic violence is handled within a family in comparison to how it is handled by the law. Whatever your focus, give examples that are supported by evidence.
